In the start of creation, God saw that existence was without form and void; darkness shrouded the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. On the second day, God created the expanse to separate the waters from the waters. On the third day, He gathered the waters into one place, and the dry land appeared. And God saw that it was good. Then God caused plants of all kinds to grow on the land—grass, shrubs, bearing fruit with seed, and trees producing fruit according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
